Surprises are great, aren’t they?

Last Saturday was quite a blast, as I have had the surprise of my life. My best buds and I agreed to have an intimate dinner at Casa Armas for my birthday, then go to Alchemy for some drinks afterwards. I’ve dressed up with my usual night out - outfit, as I have urged my best friends to wear their dresses, so excited to do something different for the night.

Lo and behold, as I arrived at the vicinity of Casa Armas, best bud M exclaims, “oh, this is A’s car!” A is my guy classmate way back in highschool, so I was like, “what is this? ” Turns out the boys arrived earlier than us, and as I entered the resto, I saw my three classmates from high school there! I was stunned, and in disbelief!

A few moments after, my classmate from college L comes over. It was like a whole different universe, like the unbelievable was happening! Then, D from Beijing Travel Bug , one of my closest friends ( whom I influenced into blogging , haha ) came, and I could almost exclaim in disbelief, because we have been chatting on YM everyday, and she was asking me what my plans were for Saturday, what I was going to wear, and I even sent her my eye makeup picture via file transfer just before I left! ( hmm a vain thing among girls, what more for a beauty blogger hahaha! ). The night was filled with good food ( my favorite paella! the kalderetang kambing was divine, too! ), some mishaps ( ended up in coffee instead of drinks haha! ), and great company. Probably one of the best memories I’ll ever have for my birthday.

I was surprised the hell because I didn’t expect anything. In this life, I’ve learned that expecting things brings heartbreak, as it kills your inner child, and if you just keep on expecting, you might not have enough hope left to keep on living. Sad, but that was the way I chose to live life.

Just when you think that life is empty and it’s all about work, and as you question the reason of your existence, such affirmation brings a smile into your heart, and everything seems to be illuminated with this precious glow that expresses how well loved you are. Indeed, the love that my best buds, and my friends have made me feel brings me so much joy that every tinge of loneliness and gloominess I have felt is totally erased. Affirmations are a wonderful thing to have every now and then. It brightens one’s perspective in this cynical world, somehow. I’m blessed with great friends, and I’m very very grateful that the heavens have rearranged our lives to be intertwined this way. I think I’m happy with the way things are in my life now.
