I just read this on my drafts. Gosh, did I really write this? I have so much kept emotions! Hahaha! But really, I am not brokenhearted. ( or am I ? I’m even too busy to have a heart! Haha! )

The Melody of a Broken Heart

Nothing beats the feeling of getting giddy when you accept to yourself that you are liking someone for the first time.

Butterflies in one’s stomach, the sugar high, and all those blushes whenever that special someone is within close proximity.

When the person is more perfect that you have imagined, it allthemore becomes more painful, and harder to let go of. You form an illusion, that perhaps, he is the dream that you have been waiting for.

Then you notice that your efforts are all channeled toward him - you spend an extra few minutes in the vanity mirror, shop for prettier clothes, and even do better on your job on the hopes of impressing him with your natural self , as you thought you naturally were.

Such extra mile that one take in an effort of impressing someone, gets more frustrating as they lay unnoticed, and even piled in the dust.

He sends you confusing signals those enticing whispers, and generous gestures, that take your mind in a whirl , into a world of illusion and false hope that maybe, you have sparked his interest somehow, and some of your efforts have genuinely paid off.

You wait for the day that he, in turn takes the extra mile instead of you, and that never happens. You struggle to think on what he really meant, and he gives you the gift of insanity - over confusion, over analysing, and thinking.

With one advice that you tell him,

“You won’t be able to do anything with your life if you don’t go and make a move to the girl you like.”

It absolutely backfires on you, as he takes the next plane to where the girl of his dreams is destined, as you sit there quietly in one corner, unable to think, smile, or even cry.

What is the melody of a broken heart? The melody of a brokenheart is just like that of a sad love song - its lyrics are just there, and it won’t have a chance of a happy ending, because the song is destined to end that way. The melody is haunting, as every note played is a stab to the heart, as the cries don’t end until you are sleeping from exhaustion. It’s one choice to play the song repeatedly as it breaks your heart over and over again, or choose for the song to end, as you move on, and start anew despite a bruised heart.

Author’s Note : I might have a knack for writing depressing essays. I just feel attracted to the beauty of tragic love.
