Filed Under (Fashion Attempts, Musings) by Summer Girl

I admit that I’m not a dress person. I love jeans, I love mini-skirts, even gauchos, but I’ve never ever considered wearing a dress to a night out. In fairness, I’ve worn dresses for special occasions like weddings or such formal occasions, but on normal Saturday nights, I’ve always preferred the laid-back comforts of the God-sent creation called denim.

Lately, the trend has been all about dresses. I’ve seen Sasha sport really gorgeous dresses which gave her an ultra-feminine and sophisticated vibe, saw my best friend wear a dress, for the first time , which made me laugh and say wow, and just a month ago, my best buds have been talking about somethiing like, “Hey, let’s go out one time and all wear dresses! “. Of course, the dreamy me giddily shopped for a few pieces, and kept them for some future use. I could already imagine myself wearing those pretty dresses, and of course, complimenting them with pretty makeup too ! ( Did I need to say that? )

dresses

They’re so cute, right? They’re sold at Fabdiosa. I got this picture from Flair in the City, one of my must-read blogs everyday.

I just remembered way back in the old old days when wearing trousers were strictly confined to men, until the women’s lib movement started advocating for equal rights, and with that, equal fashion rights! Looks like the trend is going back to that now. Or this time , every fashion sense just gets totally mixed up. Heck, even shorts right now look fashionable!

Talking about shorts, I’ve seen really chic women sport shorts. I see them whenever I shop and I just feel their vibe that is so laid back and relaxed. A little bit homey, I suppose, since shorts, in my younger days, were only worn inside the house, or at most, I’ve seen those 80s movies wherein men and women wear these shorts about 2 inches above the knee. In denim. ( Not my favorite style ! ). The best person that I’ve seen wear shorts is probably my best bud M. Whenever I see her wear shorts, paired with a 3/4 sleeved semi-loose but chic boatneck top, I just can’t help but admire her chic-ness. I’ve told her that she looks smashing in shorts, and she tells me, “Sophie, why don’t you wear one? I think it’d look good on you too.”

And my answer is, “Because my dad won’t let me!!!! ”

And just how old am I? I’m quarter of a century old, and I’m prohibited to wear shorts. Because according to dad, they look horrible. Or too improper. Or too skimpy. I don’t know what’s on his mind ( men! ), but the protective him will never let me get out of the house wearing those sexy creations that I’ve actually secretly bought two pairs of! ( while he was shopping elsewhere, I managed to sneak-buy a few. Hahahaha! ).

One day, just one day, I will be able to walk the streets looking fab like this! ( I wish. )

Well, maybe, I could actually sneak out one night wearing those. I just have to run really , really fast and go home really, really late. Okay, that’s enough daydreaming. That won’t happen.

So until I haven’t perfected my plan of sneaking out in those gorgeous couture shorts, it’s gonna be skirts and dresses for me. Hey, with so much fashionable items right now, I think I can exploit every option before I go back to thinking of shorts again. *Wink*

Didi : I guess we’re on this obligatory age to wear those kind of stuff. Even my taste level with close is sorta maturing, no, not the “ama” maturing, but somewhat…ahh! don’t wanna talk about it ! wahahaha! :P

Dee: The one you’re gonna wear @ the Ministry of Sound? Grr I’m envious. Going there once I get the funds. If I ever!

Angel : No problem! You make me a shopping addict. :P Online, and offline. As Homer Simpson says, “Dow!”
