Filed Under (Senti Mode, Adventures with my Girlfriends) by Summer Girl
This week was the most tiring week, ever. The SEMCON was such a success, and maybe a little bit too much of an information overload that it left a hole in my brain for days. I’d be talking about my great experience from it in another post, but let me blog about what I did today , as my memory is still fresh from it and I’d love to immortalize it and keep this memory. After a quite tiring makeover session for my reseller, I had my dad drop me off to Rockwell to meet with my bestbuds, to grab a quick dinner before going to the Araneta Coliseum to watch Babyface , live in Manila. My bestbud J scored us free tickets, as she always gets free stuff for us like movie passes, products, and even discounts, but the catch was, it was 2 tickets in the patron area and 2 tickets in the Upper A area. Bestbud M asked me what seat I wanted, and since I knew M was such a senti fan, I told her that I was fine with an Upper A seat with Bestbud K. We bought food from Tokyo Tokyo , and ate hurriedly in the dark, and moving vehicle that we were in. ( Such a great meal! haha! ) At first, he played about a couple of songs from his Playlist CD, songs that inspired him to write and produce more music. One of them is Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door. The songs that I could remember that he sang was for one, the song that makes him Babyface- Everytime I Close My Eyes, beautiful songs like Wonderful Tonight, What If, Change the World , I’ll Make Love To You, End of the Road, Water Runs Dry, and his first hit with his group The Deele, as well as Can We Talk ( can we talk for a minute?girl, I want to know your name ) He sang some of those on the “guy song” medley, and as he proceeded with the “girl medley”, he sang “Diggin on You” and some old songs, and he presented his co-singer, Sasha ( or Zsazsa? ) whose voice was amazing. They both sang Take a Bow ( from the movie Evita ), Count on Me and Waiting to Exhale ( from the movie Waiting to Exhale ), and a couple of very familiar-sounding songs that I don’t quite remember. All the songs were sang beautifully , his voice as mesmerizingly clear and tender as ever, and I could not help but be moved by his voice, as he truly sang from the heart. He left the audience with the song, “When Will I See You”. It was a great finale to such a great concert. For a concert artist, he sang alot of songs already, that surely satisfied each and every person inside the coliseum. As for me, my friends kept teasing me that I could not totally relate to his songs because I never got hurt so much, to the point that I could feel the emotions in his songs, but I was significantly moved by the way he would write a song. It just makes me realize that a man could really love a woman that much, and vice versa. Enough to write moving, inspiring, sad love songs that go straight to the heart. His love for music and his love for emotions , specially love, surely makes him a legacy - not only in the music industry, but in understanding people’s emotions. His songs (all his songs, may it be he sang them or composed them ) made me feel that there are such emotions that existed, and are possibly waiting my way as I grow older. His songs reflect life - there are moments of intense happiness, but there are also moments of loneliness, intense longing, and heartbreak. His songs just show how life is beautiful the way it is, because there are emotions. Feeling, is living. (I have to remind this to myself all the time. ) One regret? He wasn’t able to sing my favorite song - Reason for Breathing. I was struggling to get the name of that song from my tired, brain all evening! But well, the night surely ended well with me with a bright smile on my face, together with my happy and giggling girlfriends, and me finishing a fillet o fish sandwich from Mcdonalds, as I finish this entry.
