Filed Under (Food Fest) by Summer Girl

Yesterday, in the midst of the impossible noon heat , I was out on business, and as I was heading back home, I fetched my sisters who were taking up swimming lessons at Ace Water Spa.

Silly me, it’s a few streets away from home and I’ve never tried going in that place!

When I arrived, my sisters were still billing out in the restaurant area, so I looked around and observed the cramped tables full of families, with the kids with hair still damp from being water babies, eating to their hearts’ content. Yhave to agree - what’s a better thing to do after swimming than munching some food? Heehee.

While the nice sister in me patiently waited, a few mini-cakes caught my attention, and I took two of them home since I’ve had this really bad craving of either sweets or really salty foods for the past few days, that I just couldn’t resist just plain looking at them. I.must.take.them.home.

Green Tea Tiramisu, 95 php

The Green Tea Tiramisu’s disappointing. I loved its lush, green topping, and was anticipating a sweet surprise, but it turned out to be a wee bit bitter for my taste. Green tea - being too true to its word. I’ve experienced better green tea sweets over at Kozui in Tomas Morato.

Chocolate Decadence Cake, 95 php

To be honest, I couldn’t quite remember the name of the sweet - was it double chocolate something, or Chocolate Decadence? ( that’s why I can never be a food blogger - I tend to forget what they’re called, I go to war immediately without remembering details haha! ). Doesn’t matter - this is quite sinful as the chocolate mousse-cake layers supported by a surrounding sheet of chocolate shaped in a circle topped with chocolate shavings just quite made my day. It’s soft, it’s sweet, and it’s tres delightful. I shall be getting more of this in time!

I thought I’d say that this is the end of my entry but my tummy was just born insatiable, so after me and my sisters feasting on those sweets, we proceeded to attack something else, and that is a platter full of absolute heaven,

Onion rings and pre-seasoned fries

The story about how I discovered where I could get really good frozen onion rings and pre-seasoned fries’ quite interesting. A few weeks ago, I was on the bank, and service was really slow, as it took me an hour to have a transaction finished. With my absolutely hopeless driving skills, and my ride which was far, far, away, I decided to walk home. On my way home, I saw store that sold frozen goodies that are being supplied to restaurants, and decided to stopover. There were frozen siomai’s, potato balls, chicken chicharon skin, chicken nuggets and patties, and I ended up buying about a kilo of frozen onion rings worth 120 bucks, and 2 kilos of pre-seasoned fries that I swore were very similar to KFC’s for 120 a kilo. As I got home, poof, everything was cooked as my 4 sisters’ tummies were filled with much satisfaction. Ever since, I’ve bugged them to always buy frozen onion rings and fries there if they were in the area. God, the onion rings are just SO Karls Junior in the taste department! Such, such a guilty pleasure, I’d say.

Well, it still wasn’t the end for me in the name of sweets, as I ended my day with friend L over at Jack’s Loft. After a tummy overload at Angel’s Kitchen ( which is a separate post ), we went to Jack’s Loft for drinks and some sweets. I got this,

Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake, 120php?

Date L didn’t appreciate it so much as he left me to finish the cake. The taste of the Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake was a little bit confusing as there was the taste of cream cheese, which was a little bit sour, and there was chocolate mousse, which I felt was very gelatine-ey, instead of being the normally just..mousse. I’d rate it a so-so, because I was able to finish 4/5 of the slice.

Boy, do I wish everyday was just like these - with me always pigging out. Hahaha!

A secret from a (sort of) food blogger: take photos of the menu. It’s a HUGE help when it’s time to write about those chows! ;)
