…well, I’m not going to talk about the new Anson’s actually. I’m going to talk about its NEW and super high-tech carpark!

We were on the way to Glorietta when my dad suddenly asked, “Where are we parking?”, I mumbled, “the usual.”, and he said, “well, you’re the usual is already nonexistent. There’s no Parksquare 2 anymore.” Okay, I cannot be blamed for not knowing because (1) I don’t drive, and (2) if ever I frequent Makati, I commute because it’s so expensive to use a car to go to Makati ( gosh, the prices for gasoline are way ridiculous already and I could go to Glorietta for a mere 25 bucks by LRT and MRT ! ).

Anyway, going back, we decided to park at Anson’s building, the latest project of Ayala Malls. My dad parked there yesterday while he was waiting for me to finish shopping for makeup school supplies. We were in such shock when after the guard checking the car, my dad had to stop on the card slot, virtually “stamp” his thumb for a fingerprint record, as the card slot took a picture of our car, as it released the parking card! All I could say - high tech, hi tech, and reason enough to charge fifty bucks flat rate? I really hope they’d lower it a bit though! Fifty’s a bit too step for mall parking - I’d take it if they would build a bridge connecting Anson’s and Landmark at least, so that we wouldn’t have to cross the street to go to Landmark. Pfft.

After two to three hours’ worth of shopping ( gosh I found super cheap dresses at Landmark! ), it was time to cross the damp street again to go back to parking. Just across Landmark, and at the ground floor of the Anson’s building, there were three resto’s that we were considering to try. On the left, Tapa King ( nah, I’ve been eating there since my Lasallian days ) , next was Ineng’s which I heard had really great tasting barbeque, and on its right was Mann Yann, which was flocked with people, so we settled for Inengs. I heard that their barbeque was good, so I quickly ordered their barbeque ( which had three sizes by the way- 8, 10, and 12. haha! ) , chicken barbeque, fried tilapia, sizzling fish fillet, ginataang gulay ( for my vegetarian mom ), and sizzling squid.

Much, much regrets that I wasn’t able to bring my D40x with me, because I just don’t like how my N95 shoots. Call me DSLR dependent but I really am. Anyway, everything was just so-so in terms of taste, the rice serving was too small for me ( since I’m really a pig when it comes to eating ). The two dishes that stood out were definitely the sizzling fish fillet - a great alternative for those who love sisig and hate the cholesterol, and the barbeque. The flavor is definitely there - I tasted some butter, and it was really good. The barbeque, if compared to Reyes’, has less flavor, just because Reyes’ barbeque is somewhat flavorful with its java sauce, and Ineng’s is supposed to be dipped in vinegar. Ineng’s has a more “Fiipino” taste to it. I love the barbeque, it might be the second best thing since Aling Nene’s barbeque ( which is my all time favorite barbeque , EVER! ).

No justice for the really yummy sizzling fish fillet

Would I go back to Ineng’s? Well, yes for the barbeque and sizzling fish fillet, and yes if I am looking for a light, non-pigout meal. The meal was “just right” in terms of servings, not small, and definitely not big, and it’s not cheap, either. 2 pieces of 12-inch barbeque sticks, with rice and drinks are already 120+. Overall, my family enjoyed the food. Mom said she forgot her no-meat sacrifice because the ginataang gulay was so good. Had to order extra rice for some of us who wanted our tummies filled up ( including me! heehee ).

The sizzling fish fillet’s flavor still lingers in my mind. Sigh. I asked what fish it was, and it was tilapia. Sigh. I’m having a good night’s sleep because of it.
