There are people who blissfully think, “Can’t things get any better?” while there are people who mournfully say, “Can’t things get any worse?” Everyday, endless prayers of thanks. For happiness to never end. Sunshine that never ends. Everyday, endless prayers of pleas. To end the agony. To even have a second’s worth of lucid interval from all the madness that the world has somehow deformed one’s view of the world. A plea to breathe some fresh air. Where do we go from what we are now? Do we deserve the things that we have right now? Did we ask for whatever we have right now, good or bad?

![]() Cupcakes are comfort food. Just when I need them the most. Yesterday, Phoebe handed me over two cupcakes, in a box, and embarrassingly said, “they bled! I didn’t really even want to give them to you because they bled! look! ” The microscopic “bleed” of the icing was well, microscopic ( maybe beyond microscopic because I really could not see them ) and showed how OC my friend was. The cute cupcakes, white sprinkled with cheerful colors were mine for the day.

![]() Sundays are just a delight. No work, just the perfect time to laze in bed all day. There are moments wherein you just don’t want to leave the house, or even cook. So takeouts are my family’s best bet for Sundays since it’s time to take a break from our everyday cooking spree ( my mom, my sister, and I ), and enjoy some good food without leaving home ( well, maybe just for half an hour to get food outside?haha! ) ..ahhh, Xiao Long Bao , Xiao Long Bao. How do I love thee! I’m referring to the food ( image posted above ) which is my favorite dimsum of all time. They’re mid-sized dimsums, maybe a cross-breed of a dimsum and a siopao! ( Taking the siopao’s form, but a bit bigger than the normal dimsum, but the wrapper being just like dimsum ) The first time I tasted it at Din Tai Fung Restaurant in Shanghai, I knew it was love! Looking for great ones in Manila, so far, I have found something yummy enough (though still not as close, but hey, this is yummy too! ), found at Suzhou Dimsum! This picture was taken during my family’s Sunday lunch at home, we just had the frozen Xiao Long Bao’s microwaved til cooked, hence, looking like that. Hahaha!

…and we just can’t get enough! We just can’t get enough! Victims for last weekend : My two sisters, Sh, and Jh. As usual, on a Saturday night, the line was still unusually long, but hey, Pepper Lunch lovers don’t take that as something to turn their backs on! We fall in line, obediently, for those seats! ( even if Sh came in early to get us a table heehee ) ![]() My health-conscious sister’s plate is filled with Chicken and Salmon Platter. Just so like her! I got to nick from her plate since I eat way more than her, and well, the salmon is still as fresh as it can be! YUM! Read the rest of this entry »

![]() Just before our trip to the zoo, my friends and I made a short stop at the Takashimaya Mall to grab some lunch at their food court. Suddenly confused on what to get because of the variety of food there, I think I went around the food court about twice or thrice before deciding what I want for lunch - all I know is that - I want something spicy, and something truly Singaporean.

![]() I just noticed that my feature on Singapore lasted for over a week. It’s about to commence, one more entry after this, I promise! During our last day, my friends and I went all the way from Bugis to Suntec City just to hunt this must-buy pasalubong and take-me-home from Singapore ( and other Asian cities, for that matter ) : Royce Chocolates.

![]() During my really short vacation in Singapore, I was almost to conclude that native Singaporean food was so-so. Good, but not great. Turns out, my good friends saved the last as we dined at No Signboard, a fancy restaurant situated in the Esplanade, a building whose architecture is inspired by the shape of the durian.

![]() This is T’s baby sister D’s favorite part of our Singapore adventure- eating ice cream - “bareta” ( Tagalog term for “bar” ) ice cream, as she fondly calls it. The street ice cream there is pretty great. Bars of Magnolia ice cream cut, either served with wafer ( just like in the picture ) or bread for one Singaporean dollar is not cheap, but is a gratifying treat after lunch or dinner.

My close friend T’s beau M was very very thoughtful as T, D ( T’s sister ) and I flew in on T’s birthday, as M arranged a birthday dinner for his honey T inviting all the warm and very nice friends we have over there. The venue? Fine Italian dining over at Pasta Brava. Let me just say that I was beyond speechless with the food here. It is perhaps the best Italian food I’ve ever tasted, and I just could not say more about it, but perhaps the pictures can tell the story ( with some snippets of comment I have ) ![]() Read the rest of this entry » |
