Filed Under (Food Fest) by Summer Girl

During my really short vacation in Singapore, I was almost to conclude that native Singaporean food was so-so. Good, but not great. Turns out, my good friends saved the last as we dined at No Signboard, a fancy restaurant situated in the Esplanade, a building whose architecture is inspired by the shape of the durian.

The durian building in the middle! heehee how cute , no?

D tells me that there are three must-haves in every Singaporean resto like No Signboard’s = chili sauce, peanuts, and jalapeno. With my really hungry disposition, I chewed the pickled jalapenos and found them quite delightful! I guess I’m lucky as Singaporean food are quite spicy.

The Cereal Prawn served to us was beyond delicious. Deep friend prawns with toasted cereal with them ( god, I am so salivating right now ), is just just just perfect. I was even told that we could eat the “balat” ( anyone? I have a hole in my brain now haha ) of the prawn because it was deep fried - and I did! YUMMY!!!! At the rate of how we were eating - I quickly requested for fork and spoon - for everyone!

The White Pepper Crab was okay for me. Very tasty. Thing is, I forgot all about the White Pepper Crab the moment the Chili Crab was served.

CHILI CRAB!!!

Now, I don’t usually eat crab. I hate it when I have to get my fingers dirty to eat crab, but this one’s entirely different. It has this chili sauce with shredded crab meat that is just so so so so good ( mid-spicy, but still good ) that I was already contented with putting the sauce on my rice for the whole meal. I also got me the part of the crab easiest to eat ( the claw part ), and I truly, truly, truly enjoyed my meal. I was very light headed and very happy after we ate there as I truly loved the dining experience!

Now, this is a must-go to restaurant for all those who are going to Singapore. It’s not cheap ( our bill was around 30 sgd, around a thousand pesos per head x 7 ) , but it is definitely, definitely worth your time and money. Mmmm! I could still taste the chili crab!!!

I haven’t tried No Signboard but I simply adore Singapore cuisine. Have you tried the cereal prawns at Maggie’s over at Bugis? Not too expensive; highly recommended.

The mantou was gone. I was too hungry that I ate alot of mantou.

Em : Drat, I didn’t get the chance, and to think we lived in the bugis area! Sayang! Next time when I get back there :)
