On the third leg of our journey, twas bestbud A’s idea to visit a friend’s place and spend the night there as it was just 45 minutes away from the beach. So our third destination, Lipa City, Batangas.

On the way there, I was bored, and on a fast moving vehicle, the impulsive me just opened the window of M’s car and started shooting random sunset pics - just because I’ve never taken a sunset shot, ever. Next time, I’d make sure I camp out during sunrise, and sunset at the beach to chase good light and capture beautiful shots, as every budding photography enthusiast would go for. ( See Swept Away )

We spent the night at Events Centre, which is owned and managed by bestbud A’s friend ( and our new friend, too ) H. The facade, as we arrived there, striked to me as a typical hotel, but when I went inside, it turned out to be a great place to hold well, events ! Aside from being an events facility, it also has rooms that can accommodate overnighters and such ( like us! ). There was a wedding reception held in the main hall when we arrived there, and we were escorted to the room by their courteous staff.

Last weekend was more than anything that I could ask for as I was given a chance to get away from Manila, and spend more time with my bestbuds from college, A and M. With the limited time given to us ( just an overnight stay , these law students are just so darn busy ), I was tasked to plan for our trip.

One thing came into my mind - lunch at Buon Giorno, Cliffhouse, Tagaytay, for starters.

I’ve been enjoying the food at Buon Giorno for some time now as my other friends just love dining there. We always make sure to reserve the Opium Bed beforehand, the most romantic, and best seats in the resto, with a gorgeous view of the Taal Lake. Now, I’ve brought my two friends here with a mission to impress them with the delicious Italian food, and the very enjoyable ambience. Read the rest of this entry »

Spanish food has always had a place in my heart, hence, my love for Spanish resto-hopping. I can never forget the night when my bestbud J “baptized” me into Spanish food by bringing me to Casa Armas, which became our barkada’s favorite Spanish restaurant. After that, I have been checking out other resto’s and comparing their paella’s and dishes with the former.

my stunning view for the night. fantastic interiors.

As for Gaudi, I have heard so much raves from friend A about it. My friends and I have been dining in Gaudi for a few times already, but never tried the paella, which is the “defining point” of a Spanish restaurant. So far, I’ve enjoyed Gaudi’s pepper steak (Solomilio de Ternera a la Pimienta) , and I’ve “visited” friend B’s plate for some spicy, delicious salpicao called Salpicado de Ternera ( really spicy, I must say , I want to order this for me next time ), and loved their Chic Pasta. Last night was a different experience as my friends and I tried something new - something that everyone should try! We dined at Gaudi, Serendra for J’s despedida. What a fantastic way to say goodbye - with exquisite cuisine!

Bestbud J has always been raving about Kimpura as one of her favorite Japanese resto’s, and tonight, just before watching dinner, we decided to try it out.

Blame it on the impossible parking slots in Greenhills during weekends, that my heels and feet were harassed in great deal as my bestbuds and I had a long, long walk to the promised gastronomic destination. When we arrived , now I understood that my energy exerted to walk there was so worth it - we were eating real, real good food.

As we entered the restaurant, the ambience was really posh, and I loved the place. Well, enough of the red chairs and impressive teppanyaki tables, let’s get on with the dishes.

If I were asked what my greatest temptation is - it’d be FOOD.

Yes. Delectable, soul-filling, mind-blowing food. I love food above everything else, and this is where I don’t budget at all ( that leaves me broke, too? Haha! ) Would you budget on something that makes you smile?

It’s a love and hate relationship, really.

Lucky that I love online shopping over at Multiply, or else I wouldn’t be able to discover this delightful dessert!

Introducing, Puff Mommy’s Cream Puffs.

I was instantly mesmerized, and got a little hungry when I saw the pictures over at her website. Oh yum. Cream Puffs. I didn’t hesitate to order from her via PM and she scheduled a delivery to Quezon City on a Sunday. I wasn’t at home so my mom received it for me.

When my mom fetched me from the salon, the hungry me who didn’t get to eat lunch because of the rebonding procedure I underwent gobbled the cream puffs I asked mom to bring along in the car. Read the rest of this entry »

The reason why I love the weekend is that my world stops and I am able to do something different from the things I do from Monday to Friday. This week, I was down with asthma, so I was able to spend my Saturday at home, with my mom, as we spent a quiet ( and Chinese ) dinner of steamed spare-ribs, fried dumplings, and fish fillet.

I am Filipino-Chinese, and it’s in my blood to have an affinity for Chinese food. I just love everything about Chinese food, and it tops as my favorite cuisine, to be followed by Spanish, and Korean. I think that I would never get tired of Chinese food, because I like it when it’s smokin’ hot ( I am feverish with hunger when I see a cup of hot and sour soup ) , and I like it when it’s cold, too ( ala-cold cuts, shrimp salad , mango sago…yum!). Last weekend, my friends and I headed over T House, Tagaytay. Our friend J was still in a very playful mood that she didn’t tell us where we’d be heading, and just asked us to follow her car. We were guessing if we’d go to Antonios, but she said no, and we were almost hopeful we’d go back to our ( M and I’s ) favorite Tagaytay resto, Buon Giorno, but J promised us something new. Well, T House is surely something new, and I immediately connected it with one of Anton’s entries about him trying out the place!

The place was very Zen-like , for all I could see was black and white interior design except for the color of the chairs, and we only made do with an electric fan instead of an air-conditioned room, as we also enjoyed the chilly air that Tagaytay is famous for.

My parents are currently rejoicing that I’m actually home on a Saturday night. This is just one of those fortunate moments that no one is going out on a Saturday night, and to celebrate that, we ordered some takeout for dinner. I’ve heard so much about Suzhou Dimsum, and to add, Patty has been raving about their Xiao Long Pao and Spicy Tito, so I dialled the number and started ordering stuff for the family.

When my folks came home , my sister and I started preparing for dinner, and to our surprise, the servings of the food we ordered were actually huge! We excitedly prepared the dinner table to eat dinner as soon as possible. Heck, I didn’t have time to take pictures of the food that we ate because of our excitement!

To review each of the food we ordered, well, Read the rest of this entry »
